The new Palm PM 5 is the most modern paper machine for the production of corrugated case material based on recovered paper worldwide. It enables the production of corrugated case material with a basis weight of 60 g/m² from 100 % recovered paper.
The motto of this year's congress was "Environmental and economic policy complement each other". The fact that climate and environmental policy are also in the economic interest can be seen in the two new technologies used on the new paper machine, which were promoted by the Federal Ministry for the Environment through the Environmental Innovation Programme. An innovative waste paper pulping technology ("Green Pulping") enables improved fibre yield with lower energy input and water consumption. An innovative drying technology ("OptiDry") realises the production of particularly lightweight corrugated case material with high strength at high production speeds and low specific energy requirements. These low basis weights can be used in packaging production, which leads to further savings in the use of resources.
KONGRESS BW in Stuttgart is already the tenth resource efficiency and circular economy congress organised by the state. It is one of the most renowned congresses on these future topics in Germany and Europe.
